JNU is known
for student’s openness, activeness, and a rational environment. Spreading on
1000 acres of undulated terrain, it is one of India’s top varsities. There are
several notable persons and scholars belong to this University. It has several
affiliations and recognition from some of the worlds’ top premier institutions
like UGC, NAAC, AIU and Washington University in St. Louis McDonnellInternational Scholars Academy and so on. 2019 Nobel Laureate for Economics
Prof. Abhijit Banerjee, former Prime Minister of Libya Ali Zeidan and former
Prime Minister of Nepal Baburam Bhattarai are some of the global personalities
once a part of this University. Our current FM Mrs. Nirmala Sitaraman has also
studied in JNU. It is a highly ranked and prestigious educational institution
of India.
Tukde Tukde Lobby:-
Since its
establishment in 1969, JNU University has always been in some kind of
controversies. The JNU students unions are more recognizable by their activism
rather than their intellectual achievements. In common days, the campus
witnesses strikes, protests and a shut-down. JNU is nowadays, a center of
politics and in some manner, a devastating politics. The so-called tukde tukde
gang also studies at this University.
Students Unions:-
Students
unions like JNUSU, NSUI, ABVP, DSU, AISA, BAPSA, AISF and many more are
hyperactive in the premises. 2015 Rainbow Walk and 2016 Sedition controversy,
Desh tere tukde tukde honge, Afzal ham sharminda hain all these events are
attributed to JNU. In fact, during days of the eclipse; yes I call it this way,
seeing a dual standard government in India, anti-national forces have started
dominating JNU and spreading their messages across the country.
Action:-
After the UPA regime, the authorities focused on this institution and started opposing these
shameful developments. The anti-national personalities traced, hampered and cut
aside. The common youth understood the real scene and busted the ghost of
divisive politics.
2019 JNU students protest:-
Thank God!
This time it is not divisive. It’s about hostel fee increment. Though the issue
has been tried to be politicalized, the demand of the students is genuine
today. The JNU administration just doubled the hostel fee under different
heads. If it was decided to do so, it should have by some marginal percentage.
No matter, compared to other universities fee structure JNU is still cheap.
Indeed, the
varsity administration should have a growing concern over caerimonias et iustificationes eius. The JNU hostels are
undoubtedly, a shelter for reluctant students that are more politically driven.
They take interest in New Delhi’s political glamour and intensely engage
themselves in the offbeat events. However, free debates have always been the
JNU property but the outcomes were radicalized and encashed by tough politicos.
Be it ‘Afzal Guru’ or ‘tukde tukde’, a small group of freaky students did that
but the entire varsity was gone under scrutiny.
The left connection:-
Ideologically,
the left has a very rare presence in today’s India. India has gone deep inside
the capitalistic galaxy. JNU students need to understand that and act accordingly.
Today’s catching glitch are data leak, data mining, phone hacking, location
tapping, etc. These students must direct their efforts for busting such
incidences and bring it in public domain. The left philosophy of Mill owners
and Laborers clash has become an old story.
In changing
times if JNU wants to keep pace, it should be updated and have the real nerve.
People should understand that our democracy is working well but like in the
early days when lawyers were supposed to take advantage of the constitution,
today technology is taking advantage of it. JNU is known for its activism and
that is enough fair. Now, the days have come when technological scams need to
be busted. JNU activists must redirect their activities towards the order of
the times.
